Lent is here, and for me, that means a time to slow down, reflect, and be intentional about my growth—both spiritually and personally. This 40-day journey, beginning on Ash Wednesday (March 5, 2025) and leading up to Easter Sunday (April 20, 2025), is a reminder to step away from distractions and focus on faith, self-discipline, and gratitude.
The Meaning of Lent
Lent has always been a powerful season for me. It’s inspired by the 40 days Jesus spent fasting in the wilderness, resisting temptation, and preparing for his ministry. It’s a call for us to do the same—to let go of what doesn’t serve us, to strengthen our faith, and to realign ourselves with what truly matters. For centuries, Christians have observed Lent through fasting, prayer, and acts of kindness, and I love that it gives me a structured reason to reset and refocus.
What I’m Giving Up for Lent
This year, I’ve decided to give up meat and limit my social media time. Now, I’m not going to lie—giving up meat is going to be tough. But I know it’ll challenge my self-discipline and push me to explore new, plant-based meals. As for social media, I’ve realized how much time I spend scrolling, and honestly, I’d rather use that time to be present, reflect, and connect more deeply with myself and others.
But Lent isn’t just about giving things up—it’s also about adding more of what brings meaning. That’s why I’m committing to the 75 Hard challenge. It’s a mental and physical discipline that requires daily workouts, reading, and sticking to a healthier lifestyle. Alongside that, I’m dedicating more time to reading and prayer, making sure that this Lenten journey truly transforms me from the inside out.
What Are You Giving Up?
Lent looks different for everyone, and that’s what makes it so powerful. Maybe you’re giving up sweets, caffeine, or social media. Or maybe you’re focusing on adding more kindness, patience, or prayer to your daily life. Whatever your commitment is, I’d love to hear about it!
Drop a comment and share your Lenten commitment with me. Let’s hold each other accountable and encourage one another as we walk through this season of faith and discipline together.
Wishing you a Lent that’s meaningful, transformative, and full of growth.
